Games start tomorrow. Josh has been in camp for a week. He has thrown two bullpens and batting practice, more casually known as BP. Although satisfied with the bullpens, in BP his location was not as sharp. He is excited though to have some actual competition and looks forward to his first outing, which will be sometime in the next few days.
He will be playing with the AA-Harrisburg squad, as will 21 other pitchers. When the team breaks camp for the season there will be 12 pitchers on the roster. I've never been good at math, but even I can deduce the difference in that word problem. Nine or more pitchers, depending on other extenuating circumstances, will be out of a job.
Last night, Josh met his agent, Andy, for coffee. They discussed how Josh has been improving his average against lefties and perfecting his change-up along with his favorites, the slider and the fastball.
"Your main objective right now is making AA," Andy said. "I have spoken with some scouts, and because of your age, it is imperative that you make Harrisburg out of camp."
By God's grace, he will. Josh is healthy. He is ready to compete and prove his ability to succeed and excel in AA. Please join us in praying that the LORD would bless Josh's efforts and that he successfully earn a roster spot on the Harrisburg team. I will keep you posted as the week progresses.
Thank you for going before the Throne of Grace for us.
